END NOTES/COMMENTARY - CHANNEL 2:

1. "Unreadable" probably was "11:45" as the station call letters, "KKB," are only given on certain occasions, such as the quarter-hour time and station checks. Also, with reference to Channel 1, 280 attempted to contact 9 on Channel 1 during that channel's 11:45 and 11:46 time frames before returning to Channel 2 and making contact during 11:47.

2. The motorcade, having formed in the vicinity of Air Force One, got underway at 11:50 on its journey of some 7 miles to its unscheduled ending in Dealey Plaza at 12:31 p.m.

3. Reference to "531" was a short-form for "the dispatcher." Actually, the number 531 was one of the telephone extensions serving the dispatcher's office.

4. From the best reconstruction, 15-2 relayed for 3 who wanted to know about the ambulance service scheduled for the Trade Mart. Due to a defect in the recorder, it occasionally repeated all or part of a given transmission, while sometimes not recording any of an incoming message.

5. The motorcade stopped a moment at Lemmon and Lomo Alto while President Kennedy greeted some children.

6. Actually, Wofford's partner answered for him.

7. "Down" is a colloquial reference to "south," north is up, east is over, and west is out.

8. Actually, this is not a "turn." Two blocks west of Lemmon, Turtle Creek becomes Cedar Springs. A turn would have them traveling north instead of west on Cedar Springs.

9. It is a common error to refer to the Market Hall and the Trade Mart synonymously.

10. "I'll check it" was picked up on Channel 1. (See note 60, and 12:31:02 on Channel 1 transcript.)

11. See "Time Discrepancy In Time-Check on Channel ll" for explanation in time differences between Channels I and II.

12. "Dallas 1" is the radio call number for the Dallas County Sheriff, Bill Decker, who, with the local Secret Service Chief Agent, Forrest Sorrels, was a passenger in Chief Curry's car.

13. Sheriff Decker instructed the Channel 2 dispatcher to mobilize the county deputies for assignment to Dealey Plaza. To do this, the police dispatcher had a telephone clerk to inform the sheriff's dispatcher by direct line telephone. The sheriffs dispatcher then had a clerk to make the telephone notifications, and he broadcast, "Attention all units . . ." (See Channel 1, 12:33:38, and Note 74), to inform field units.

41. "Station 5" is a short-form reference to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department dispatcher's office. Thus far, no word had been given regarding what had happened. One could infer that something had happened, but with no idea of the nature. Here, Sheriff Decker has ordered mobilization of "all available men" into a large area to "secure" everything until "homicide and other investigators can get there." This could suggest anything from an attempted assault to homicide, for the Homicide Division detectives handled both offenses.

15. As the motorcade neared Stemmons over Oak Lawn in the vicinity of Dal-Hi Stadium (later P. C. Cobb Stadium, now the Infomart), some trucks were in the right hand lane. The motorcade would exit at the first off-ramp past Oak Lawn. These trucks posed a problem to the motorcade in making its exit to the Stemmons Freeway service road, en route to Industrial Blvd., the next cross street.

16. With reference to Channel 2, Note 7, the term "up" is a colloquial reference. Officers were "out" at Love Field, downtown, and "up" on Stemmons. The Channel 2 dispatcher had heard the motorcycle engine at different times during the period the microphone had been open, and concluded that it would, in all logical reasoning, be one of those at the Trade Mart "up on Stemmons" rather than up on the freeway.

17. Refer to Channel 1, Note 76, and Channel 1 Transcript at 12:33:52.

18. As the motorcade approached the rear of Parkland Hospital, the emergency entrance, Chief Curry ordered security on the entrance. Officer "B," hearing the order, stopped and closed the driveway to unauthorized vehicles. This helps to fix the time of arrival at the 12:34 time frame.

19. This is the first open reference to "shots" thus far. Chief Curry had reported "hit," which could have referred to a thrown object. Also, the witness stated, ". . . the shots came from . . ." as opposed to those who "thought."

20. Officer 283 had been standing by his motorcycle waiting for this order. However, the motorcade passed him while en route to the hospital. Receiving a hand motion to do so, he fell in with the motorcade. He was at Parkland before this message was broadcast, and he never received it.

21. Refer to Channel 1, Note 82, and Channel 1 transcript at 12:35:38. This message was not fully recorded by the Channel 2 recorder. The text here was borrowed from Channel 1 so that it could be presented in full.

22. Refer to Channel 1, Note 84, and Channel 1 Transcript at 12:35:57.

23. No answer was received from Chief Curry or any officer at Parkland. This tends to confirm arrival time. By now the officers were busy assisting Governor Connally, President Kennedy and Vice President Johnson.

24. Referring to how many officers are there now as a basis for how many more would be needed.

25. Actually the second floor from the top rather than just the second floor.

26. The recorder defect caused this transmission to be partially lost. Reference to Elm and Field is an error in statement.
