       Mr. Gaudet, 72, a resident of Bay St. Louis, Miss., died Monday night after a short illness at Hancock General Hospital in Mississippi.

       The Latin American expert was born in St. James, La., but moved to New Orleans where he attended New Orleans Academy and graduated from Warren Easton High School. Before graduating from Tulane University, he worked for the New Orleans Item.
       During World War II, Mr. Gaudet was appointed by Nelson Rockefeller as the executive secretary of the Coordinator of Inter-American affairs in Latin America.
       After the war he became a roving editor in Latin America for U. S. News and World Report, and then became editor and publisher for the monthly Latin America Report. During his years in Latin America, he also served as a special correspondent to the Times-Picayune and contributed to the States-Item...
